The very first thing I did after we moved into our house was to find a painter. I was apprehensive about the neighborhood, the move in general, and just feeling like I was about to occupy an entirely new life. So that part is true. BUT it's amazing how a few changes can ease an anxious mind. The original colors were a bit drab, so I picked big bold colors for the entire house.
The house is beautiful and open, and gets great light in each of the rooms. I decided to do a crazy shade for the living room, and plan to keep the rest of the details neutral. Think wooden shades, brown accents, beige furniture. I want this room to be cozy and comfortable, and just a bit calming. The dining room will be the main event, just as soon as I find the perfect dining room set. I see this room also having some book storage, a bar area, and a place for me to put out platters for parties. We have also kicked around the idea of adding French doors where the windows currently are, to add another access point to the deck. I have a thing for a purple kitchen. Luckily, the flooring in the kitchen lends itself perfectly to a lovely shade of purple. Perhaps some day I will also add in a backsplash and I am seeking out hardware for the cabinets, but these are future projects. I'm seeking out curtains or shutters for the first floor, but I haven't found the right things just yet. I'm trying to let the rooms grow on me for a bit before I decide.
